Medical Research Institute Council (MRIC) of Children’s Memorial Hospital
December 11
The Occasion: Sponsored by the Medical Research Institute Council (MRIC) of Children’s Memorial Hospital, the Children’s Ball celebrated its 52nd year with more than 900 guests at the Hilton Chicago.
The Background: The MRIC has been raising funds for Children’s Memorial Hospital since 1991, for the Research Center, one of only a handful of freestanding centers in the nation dedicated solely to pediatric research.
The Details: The theme of the night was “Superheroes: Going Above and Beyond,” and the particulars did not disappoint—real-life caped crusaders kept guests entertained while a giant panorama of a comic book-style Gotham Chicago set the scene.
The VIPs: Tina Wolf of Glencoe and Elizabeth Appelbaum of Chicago served as the evening’s co-chairs, and welcomed Beth Gross as the chair for 2011.
The End Result: Supporters of the MRIC celebrated the $7.1 million raised by MRIC-related philanthropy in 2010.
