After being nominated for an Emmy six times, Wilmette local and New Trier alumna Ann-Margret finally swiped an Emmy for her guest appearance on Law & Order: SVU. She won for the Bedtime episode which aired in February. She played a woman who starred in commercials in the 1970s and gets involved in the murder case as she plays the jealous ex-lover of the prime suspect. When she received her award, she got the only standing ovation of the night—something she definitely deserved for all her hard work on the small screen.

Third Annual Charity Horse Show This Weekend
August 24th, 2010 by admin
This weekend Chicago Equestrians for a Cause is raising money for Children’s Memorial Hospital. The event, “A Day in the Country”, is a horse-jumping show featuring nationally acclaimed horses and riders. World renowned course designers Bobby Murphy and Jimmy Torono have designed the hunter derby course for the event at Annali Farm in Antioch.
Before the show, Bobby will walk the course with attendees explaining the athleticism needed by horse and rider to finish. A champagne brunch follows, and then the show. The riders are competing for a $25,000 prize sponsored by Canadian National Railroad. Along with two exciting rounds of jumping, attendees can enjoy shopping in the open-air market. There are also activities for the kids who have their own mini derby and can also partake in kid-friendly food.
Tickets are $200 for adults and $50 for children; reservations are required. For more information, visit chicagohunterderby.com.
