Ravinia’s sprawling lawn has set the stage for some exceptional picnics throughout the years. Every summer, this century old music festival has become a yearly tradition for music and food lovers in the Chicagoland area. For those born with a creative spirit and a love for this annual outdoor festival, your chance to create and showcase your fantasy picnic is now.
Before the Ramsey Lewis Trio and Pink Martini take the stage on July 10, HGTV host and celebrity designer, Monica Pedersen, will review entries for Rutherford Hill’s Ultimate Picnic Contest. The contest is open to legal residents of Illinois who are 21-years-old or older, with registration open to the public now.
One contest winner will receive a lawn pass for two for the entire 2012 Ravinia season, while three lucky entrants will get picnic baskets filled with ‘Ultimate Picnic’ items that include the finest cheeses from Kerrygold, Rutherford Hill Wine and dining accessories.
“Bring your best and be creative. Ultimately, this contest is about the styling of your picnic,” says Pedersen. “Ravinia, in my mind, sets the bar for the ultimate picnic. It’s not about spending exuberant amounts of money it’s about creating a look and style that is uniquely your own.”
But what Ravinia picnic is complete without a bottle of wine? “Rutherford Hill is the quintessential Napa Valley wine,” says Pedersen. “With wine it is more than just pairing it with food. It’s about friends and family and the atmosphere that is created around the enjoyment of that bottle.”
To enter, visit the contest page and complete the online registration form. Or register by sending your name, address, phone, email and age to picnic@ravinia.org. —Meryl Fulinara
